Designer Bio

Cha-Rin Yeh, founder and creative director of CHARINYEH, is based in Taiwan, where her design practice is deeply informed by the landscape of her upbringing—a quiet riverside town surrounded by fields, rituals, and slow, grounded living. In her teenage years, under the guidance of a local sewing teacher, she crafted her first garment from hand-dyed fertilizer sacks—a formative gesture of both resourcefulness and poetic instinct.

In 1985, she launched CHARINYEH with the vision of transforming Taiwan’s cultural rituals and collective memories into poetic, wearable forms. Her design philosophy bridges Taiwanese heritage with Eastern aesthetics, emphasizing structure, restraint, and emotional subtlety. For Yeh, nature is the most intuitive teacher, and each garment becomes an extension of her ongoing dialogue with land, people, and silence.

Her collections are celebrated for their refined tailoring and narrative layering—merging sculptural silhouettes, symbolic patterns, and textile storytelling. From sacred traditions to forgotten histories, Yeh reshapes cultural fragments into fashion that resonates beyond borders.
